Just In Case You Miss Me

I feel so bad that it’s been soooooooo long since I last posted on Eve’s Daughter, almost a year!!!!

Lots of reasons, lots of excuses, but mainly spending time blogging has had to be shunted down the priority list while I look after my ME/CFS husband, home educate three kids - 8, 6 & 3 (the oldest two are hypersensitive and hyposensitive and are being assessed for Aspergers and high end Autism or something else altogether in a couple of weeks and the third, well, we’ll see…), struggle with housework and in doing so discover I am a “Messie” (no surprises there) but in reading “The Messies Manuel” & “Organizing For Life” both by Sandra Felton also realise that I probably have ADD, I can tick all the boxes! And I’m always tired coz I go to bed too late while still trying to get up early especially as early mornings are really the only time I can work on my novel without interruptions or distractions. So sad, but true, while I’m writing this brilliant novel (well I think so anyway, and it’s a series by-the-way), all other writings, including my poetry, blog and other novels (all first drafts) have been put on hold. Perhaps I’ll put the short story that the novel springs from up one day for anyone who is interested, maybe…

Anyway, time to go, I’m very, very tired, again. So I will stagger off to bed shortly - after writing a little bit more :-)

Stepping Into A New Life - The Saga Continues!

While all this was going on Tim decided to see a counsellor - we needed to find out if the reason he was sick all the time was caused by his thinking, his thought patterns; in other words, to see if perhaps it was “all in his head”, or, was there some other reason, some other thing that could be causing his constant illness. During his counselling experience we purchased a book called I’m Not Crazy, I’m Just A Little Unwell’ by Leigh Hatcher. It is his story about his journey through Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and out the other side. » Read the rest of this entry …

A Night At Circus Latino

This poem was written after we’d had a night out at, you guessed it, Circus Latino!

It was a great night, and overall, apart from a rather large hiccup with Xav at the start, we had a great night and really enjoyed ourselves at the circus. The acts were fantastic and the boys raved for weeks about Circus Latino and they would love to go again (so would I) and who knows, perhaps we shall.

To read more about our night out at Circus Latino, check out the post Circus Latino on www.thegreatadventure.info

You can also find Circus Latino on My Space and Face Book - of course you can only find them there if you’re already a MySpacer or FaceBooker yourself.  Or you can find them on the web at www.circuslatino.com.

Click on “A Night At Circus Latino” to open the poem in a new window.

The poem is in Adobe Acrobat format. If you can’t open the poem, then you can download a free reader.

Deltora Quest - Books We’ve Read

Deltora Quest by Emily Rodda an Australian author.

We borrowed out these books for Brydon to read as he’d gone from reading picture books to a grade 5/6 level in the space of four months, so we were trying to find books in that caliber but still suitable for him to read, I mean he’s only 7 so we don’t want him reading inappropriate age level stuff - I mean, sure he can read it, but being emotionally ready for it and understanding it, I don’t think so! So anyway, we borrowed out these books and Tim and I read them first to decide whether or not they were appropriate. Well, we loved them and decided that we’d see how Brydon went with them.

The Land of Elyon

The Land of Elyon series by Patrick Carman.

I chose to borrow these three books because I fell in love with the cover art. The pictures on the covers are beautiful, gorgeous. I eventually discovered that these beautiful pieces were created by Brad Weinman  Actually, it was the style of font on the spines that caught my eye first and when I pulled them off the shelf and saw the covers, well, I just couldn’t help myself I HAD to borrow them! This was while the boys were gathering a multitude of books for themselves (especially Garfield comics) at our local library. I was of course, in the kids section of the library, so, no surprises here, but the ‘Land of Elyon’ books are actually written for kids - upper primary through to lower high school (junior or middle school if you’re not in Australia - I think), however, as an adult reading these books, I gotta say, I really, really enjoyed them. I mean, I REALLY enjoyed them. And I also gotta say, hubbie enjoyed them too.

Books I’ve Read

I have decided to add a category to Eve’s Daughter called Books I’ve Read where I can share with anyone who is interested about the books I have read and sometimes the books Brydon has read too. There will be a large range of books here but not every book we read or I would never stop writing up posts on books - I’m behind as it is already! » Read the rest of this entry …

Apologies

I haven’t been blogging for ages now and I am sooooo behind - kids, lifestyle changes, chronic illness and a myriad of distractions have got in my way… even now as i type i’m using one finger while i try to eat breakfast and balance Xavier on my lap as he also eats my breakfast!! i have a great many poems to add to this site - i’m still managing to write a little, albeit sporadically, mostly poetry. And i am going to (with Tim’s help) redesign Eve’s Daughter, although i am still working that out. back soon…i hope!

Indulgences & Addictions

The other day a woman I know said, “I have an ‘addictive personality’. First it was smoking, which I gave up. Now, as you can see, I am addicted to food.” She then said how she was going to conquer this addiction, and I know that she’ll do it, she’s already ”kicked the smoking habit” and she’s that kind of very determined and persistant person, but . . .

Bound Up In The Little Indulgences

Below are two ransomed heart emails that I have recently received (a little while ago now, holding off on publishing this post until I’d finished a couple of other drafts, oh well) full and complete, usually I only post the bits that are relevant, however, in this case both are completely relevant; to only chop out a few bits to quote just won’t give the whole picture leaving anybody who reads this with an incomplete understanding of what the emails are saying and what I am saying. Both these emails were very encouraging, they spoke to my heart, fanning the desires of my heart and the last two lines in the second email gave me my “wake up!” slap!!

Joseph & Disappointment With God

Disappointment with God - now there’s a good book authored by Philip Yancey who has written many good, inspirational and teaching books. Most definately one of my favourite Christian authors. Anyway ‘disappointment with God’ is what Tim and I have been dealing with over the last few days. We recently had a situation in our lives where we trusted God; we chose to have faith that God would provide - we were believing for it. And he did come through for us, but . . .
